Position Summary:
The ER Registered Nurse provides timely, high-quality, and compassionate care to patients with urgent and emergent medical needs in the Emergency Department. You will triage, assess, and stabilize patients with diverse conditions while working closely with a multidisciplinary team. This position is open to Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs) who meet Canadian licensing requirements and are looking to grow their careers in public or private hospitals across Canada.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform rapid and accurate patient assessments, triage, and prioritization of care in a high-acuity setting.
- Provide emergency interventions, administer medications, IV therapy, and manage critical equipment.
- Monitor patient condition, recognize changes, and respond promptly to emergencies.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, paramedics, allied health professionals, and other nursing staff.
- Educate patients and families about treatments, discharge instructions, and follow-up care.
- Maintain accurate, clear, and timely documentation in accordance with hospital policies and provincial standards.
- Comply with infection control, patient safety, and quality assurance procedures.
- Participate in emergency drills, trauma response, and ongoing professional development.
- Contribute to continuous quality improvement and best practices within the Emergency Department.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Valid Registered Nurse license in your home country and eligibility to register with the provincial nursing regulatory body (e.g., BCCNM for BC, CNO for Ontario, CRNM for Manitoba, CRNA for Alberta, CRNNL for Newfoundland and Labrador, ARNPEI for PEI).
- Minimum of 3 years of recent, full-time experience working in an Emergency Room or Acute Care setting.
- English language proficiency (IELTS Academic or CELBAN) as required for Canadian RN licensure.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Strong triage skills, critical thinking, and ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Effective teamwork and communication skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to participate in bridging or orientation programs as required for IENs.
Preferred:
- Additional certifications such as TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course), ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course), or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support).
- Familiarity with Canadian healthcare practices and emergency protocols.
Additional Information for IENs:
- Support with Canadian RN licensing and registration process may be available.
